Hi Everyone was wondering what software or application people are using to keep track of student and staff devices. We currently use a spreadsheet and google for any Chromebooks. Looking at Destiney to do this and use our Media Centers for check-in and out.
What are you using? Ideas

When I was at a school I tried multiple products including Spiceworks, Asset Track DB and using the library system. Always ended up going back to spreadsheets each time due to the flexibility it offered and the ability to update them quickly. Databases were better for history retention, but Google Sheets now has that built in too...
If you come up with a good solution please post what you use.

We've been using TIPWeb IT from Hayes Software Systems for the past 4 years or so. Lots of options, and It has served us well. I recall the setup a bit time-consuming and overwhelming, and they have spreadsheet template you fill out to get your initial inventory uploaded and have someone that guides you throughout the process (at least back then). They also make continuous improvements to the program.
We used Destiny for a while, but couldn't stand it. Maybe it's gotten better since then. We also used Spiceworks for a short time, which was okay as long as items were hitting the network. I believe I also tried Asset Track DB, but can't recall why I didn't go that direction.
We've been using Snipe-IT, in addition to still using Google Sheets for quick entry. Snipe-IT has pretty good support for importing and exporting CSVs.
Thanks for the responses, will look into some of these options.
I am using exactly what you are using--Google
DO you give the Media Specialist Access to Google Device list? Just thinking of best way yo set it up?
I don't but it would not be a bad idea to do so. How many devices do you manage?
1,200 and will add an additional 300 for the next 4 years.
Yikes- I am only managing 330 Chromebooks right now so I would definitely talk to Jay Clark. He had some ideas that involved a bar code and scan option. I am just not sure what the pricing would be...jclark@lcsc.org.
Awesome, Thanks for the inf.
