Technology for 21st Century Learners in Northwest Minnesota
Hello, I am trying to come up with a policy that says something to the effect of : Outside agencies may not place any technology on the schools network without providing the user with training, a pre-setup device, any account information needed to use it (such as iTunes accounts), and a tech support number the user can call for help.
I have the blessing of the administration, but was wondering what other schools are doing with this problem. When we get ipads dropped on us, ipod touches, etc... and the companies handing them out provide no training on the equipment, dont have it set up ready to use, and provide no tech support on it, how are other schools dealing with it?
We now have multiple outside agencies working in our building and they sometimes think we should provide tech support for their staff and all the equipment they want to use here.
If your school has a policy regarding this, could you quote it here for me. Thanks,
Dan

We got a couple Ipads from BRIC, but they were not set up, then after a while the updates to 5.01 needed to be done for the latests apps to work, then others saw our SPED people with them and started bringing in their own ipads and ipod touches and now headstart has handed out ipod touches for the dictation app so they can dictate and email. I fully understand the use of the tech, but with it coming in from all angles, we need to get a hand on it.
