I am trying to install a driver for an HP laserjet 4250 printer on a machine running Windows 7.  When I attempt to run the installation software I get a message telling me that the system has been checked and I must have IE 5.0 or later installed on the system before I can install the printer driver.  The computer is running IE 8.0  Anyone have any suggestions as to how to get the driver to install?  Thanks a bunch.

Don't use the printer install utility that comes w/ HP. Install the driver manually.

1) Download the PCL5e driver from HP here:

(If you need to select a different version of Windows, go here, then download the "HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL5")

2) Run the file. It will expand the driver files to a temporary directory, probably "C:\hp laserjet 4250".

3) Go to this website and follow the directions up until step #14.

4) On step #14, select "Have Disk", then navigate to the "C:\hp laserjet 4250" folder (or wherever you unzipped the files to). Open the folder, select the HP laserjet 4250 driver, and finish the installation.

Whenever I can, I manually install the printer drivers, because I hate all the bloatware HP installs with their install scripts.
Thanks for all the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
