Network Magic

Anybody have experience with PureNetworks/Network Magic? The service is nmsrvc.exe. A teacher-sub brings her laptop with her and it starts checking the network, probing every computer every 20 minutes. I requested access to her machine and disbled the service in Service manager. When running, it checks live IP addresses and queries for a name.
