For those districts that are exploring Google Apps for their district, I am wondering what you have done when signing up for the service about a domain name. Did you register a new name, use some version of your existing domain, etc?
Will you be using Google Apps in place of Microsoft Office? We are also wondering about security issues surrounding, for example, the Google Talk feature (students instant messaging people outside the school environment, etc.) We are interested in the possibility of using Google Apps but we are concerned about security issues. Any insights you have would be welcomed.
Have you setup a test site already? Did you do something like apps.bagley.k12.mn.us? Please keep us posted on your efforts as it is something we are looking at for fall also.
Another question? For those of you looking at Google Apps, why have you chosen it over Microsoft Live@edu? Everything I read regarding the Microsoft services seem to present it as a viable, and possibly superior, option...
For example, Google Apps only allows you to store google apps files, however Microsoft allows you to store any type of file (25GB capacity).
