Technology for 21st Century Learners in Northwest Minnesota

We use chrome from K-12. Does anyone have any issues with using Chromebooks for College in the High School classes?

Hi Steve:

Your question got me curious about this because I worked with College in the High School in a previous version when I was running the NW-LINKS wide area network. I know there was always discussion about the technical requirements for K-12 students participating in the program - at that time the school district had to ensure the student had access to the technology needed to participate.

If you are working through the U of M Crookston, I did find a site that provides contact information for the program at https://crk.umn.edu/units/college-high-school. Elizabeth Gregory is listed as the coordinator. She can probably tell you if there is any issue using a Chromebook vs. a full laptop in any of the courses. You might have already checked this, but that's my thought.

Hi Mary,

Awesome, I will check this out further. We previously had Macs for Grade 10, 11 and 12. Over the last 3 years, we phased out Macs and are now an all-chrome school. Last Years Juniors "Seniors this year" had Chromebooks,  did have some issues but thought we did get them fixed. I think part of our issue is that previous Admins promised them Macs for this year. I feel if we give in that the issues will not ever get resolved, I would rather just solve the issues if we can.

We have not had many issues connecting with Crookston, lately, it has been Alexandria. I will give them a call also.

Thanks again for your help.
