Technology for 21st Century Learners in Northwest Minnesota

Hi Everyone,

Upon my return to work this afternoon, I learned that the school secretary has been using Apple Works on her PC for years. A previous tech installed it on her PC (no, there is no Mac emulator on her computer). I will be replacing her PC with a new one and I have no idea where Apple Works came from (I have no media for the app). Does anyone know where I can get Apple Works for a PC? I really do not want to go through each and every document and open it in Apple Works, save it as a .txt file, then open it in Word and save as a word document before I can replace her old machine with the new one.....any help would be appreciated!

The AppleWorks install for a PC is on the same CD as the install for Mac. AppleWorks software is no longer being updated by Apple ... it has been a long time (was it 2000?).
They have replaced AppleWorks with the iWorks Suite (Pages, Keynote, and Numbers) .... it is wonderful .. except for the fact that they left out the database app ... which was great for things like storing and printing out individual forms for passwords and user names. (I need something new for the Mac to do this)
(I think it is the database your secretary uses a lot .. that is what one of our secretaries is still using also ... we are in the same district, so I think they share files.)

We have put AppleWorks on the extinct list and will be fading it out ... it will probably only be on a few computers still using the database.
The kids are going to miss the painting app ... but, there are many options out there for that.
I don't have an install CD for Apple Works that's why I was asking if anyone knows where I could get a copy of it. I know it is no longer made and the word processing app has been replaced with Pages (I use Mac computers at home that are using iWork). So, I guess we will be switching the secretary's Apple Works documents to Word format before getting rid of her old computer.
